AI Integration across Workforce Generations

2025 will be an interesting year for us to see how AI tools snuggle their way into different business functions, and most interestingly their adoption across multiple workforce generations. There is a general belief that AI will transform business with an assumption that the older generation will struggle to adopt.

 

The Age Divide: Surveys indicate that hiring managers prefer younger generation for AI-related roles, overlooking the older workforce despite their performance being at par or better than younger peers. It’s been seen that around 85% of Hirers would prefer youth over age or spontaneity over experience, when it comes to AI. Here too it is assumed that youth is more agile and innovative, which may not be the only yardstick to use, and a higher age may not necessarily be a disruptor all the time, because its not only about innovation but about a complete business transformation.

 

The Ingredients: AI adoption would require inclusivity, upskilling, mentoring, domain knowledge, subject matter expertise, agility, innovation, curiosity to explore new horizons … along with clarity, commitment and accountability. It has got to be a teamwork with diverse teams that are made up of cross-functional and cross-hierarchical workforce which can first understand the need for technology and later also be adoptive it in the transformation process.

 

Clarity & Focus: It’s not just about Technology. the core need has to be assessed against the pain areas and use cases that would need to be well documented vis-à-vis the organizations business goals. Here experience will come into play and when it comes to the actual adoption of the technology, the young workforce can pitch in. It has to be a healthy mix of age & experience to make this a success.

 

The AI Revolution: Organization must understand that AI is here to stay and can provide them with a cutting edge over competition or atleast be at par with it. Finally, it’s all about bringing transparency, visibility and Realtime insights for their top leadership to navigate with ease and speed in their markets and ensure a profitable growth. Hence, using the right person at the right place at the right time would be the need of the hour.
